The Centre has asked all states to initiate deportation proceedings against any foreigner involved in prostitution if the woman is a victim of human trafficking rather than prosecuting her in a court. In an advisory to all states, the Home Ministry said if after investigation, the woman or the child is found to be a victim, she should not be prosecuted under the Foreigners Act and immediate steps should be taken for her repatriation to her country of origin.

In Jammu and Kashmir, with the arrest of four persons in the border district of Poonch, the State Police has claimed to have busted a sleeper cell of the terror group Lashkar-e-Toiba.The arrested persons were actively involved in transportation of weapons, communication equipments and other logistics for the outfit.

In Nepal, normal life was crippled across most parts of the country by the three day bandh called by the Indigenous Nationalities Struggle.The three day bandh has been called by the Committee comprising various organisations working for the rights and welfare of indigenous nationalities, including Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) who are demanding identity based federalism, scrapping of the eleven province proposal agreed between the three main political parties, the UCPN ( Maoist), Nepali Congress and the CPN_UML .

The Center today said that it would put in place a mechanism to monitor steps to ensure that no effluents are released in the Ganga river.Inaugurating the third phase of river rafting expedition by Indo-Tibetan Border Police Environment Minister Jyanti Natrajan said that government is committed to pollution free environment and clean waters in the rivers of India.
